Eligibility Criteria
- The contest is open to all students up to 12th grade globally.
- Participants can be individuals, small teams (2 to 5 members), or large teams (6 to 12 members).
- No more than 12 students should be involved in a project.
- Entries are grouped based on the age or grade of the oldest contestant.
Contest Categories
Contest categories are based on grade levels:
- 7th grade and younger: individual, small group, large group
- 8th grade: individual, small group, large group
- 9th grade: individual, small group, large group
- 10th grade: individual, small group, large group
- 11th grade: individual, small group, large group
- 12th grade: individual, small group, large group
Additional categories based on artistic and literary merit are also included in the contest.
How to Enter?
- The 2021 contest will be conducted digitally, and no paper entries will be accepted.
- Participants need to register, enter their project data, and submit their entry on the official contest platform.
- A $10 submission fee is applicable for each entry (scholarships available in case of hardship).
- Entries can be resubmitted any time before the contest deadline.
Prizes
- All winners will receive a PDF certificate.
- A grand prize will be awarded to the best submission, featuring the space settlement on the contest’s website.
Contest Rules
- Submissions must focus on free space settlements, excluding settlements on planets or moons.
- Settlements should be permanent homes, not temporary work camps.
- Entries can cover various aspects of space settlement and supporting systems.
- Submissions may include designs, original research, essays, stories, models, artwork, or any other materials related to orbital space settlement.
- Entries must not exceed 50 pages unless essential for explanation.
- The project should consist of 1-10 PDF or JPG files, each no larger than 24 MB.
- Plagiarism is strictly forbidden.
- The work must be the student’s own, with minimal assistance from instructors, mentors, or parents.
