Eligibility Criteria for the India Poetry Magazine Contest

To participate in this contest, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Open to all poets who reside in India.
• Every poem published in India Poetry Magazine is eligible for entry into the Wax Poetry and Art Poetry World Cup.
• Poems representing India will be selected based on their popularity and readership across the Wax Poetry and Art Network.

Submission Guidelines for the India Poetry Magazine Contest

Follow these guidelines to submit your poem:

• Ensure that your submission adheres to the terms provided on the official contest page.
• Submissions are open to all topics and themes.
• Only one original, unpublished poem can be submitted.
• Simultaneous submissions to other contests or publications are not allowed.

Submission Checklist

• Agreement Statement: Include the statement, “I agree with the submission guidelines for the India Poetry Magazine Contest.”
• Poem: Submit one original and unpublished poem.
• Biography: Include a short biography of up to 75 words, listing a maximum of five previous publications. Links to your artist website or social media may be included.
• Postal Mailing Address: Provide your full postal address along with your name and contact information.

How to Submit

Copy and paste your entire submission into the body of an email. Attachments are not allowed. Use the following subject header for your email: India Poetry Magazine Contest. Send your submission to: info@waxpoetryart.com.

Selection of Winners

The winner of the contest will be selected based on the artistic merit, clarity of voice, and overall quality of writing by the Editor of India Poetry Magazine. Only one poem will be awarded First Place.

Publication Details

The winning poem will be published in India Poetry Magazine on January 15th, 2025. Additionally, the winner will be featured in Wax Poetry and Art Magazine’s January 15th, 2025 issue.

Terms and Conditions

• The copyright of the poem remains with the original poet.
• By participating, the poet grants Wax Poetry and Art Network the right to first publication and the right to republish the poem in any of its collections or anthologies without additional permissions.
• If the poem is included in a book, the poet will receive a minimum 20% royalty, which may be shared among contributors in a collective work.
• For digital formats, a 50% royalty will be awarded, shared as necessary among contributors.
• Royalties are paid annually if a minimum of $10 CAD is accrued.
• The poet also grants the publisher the right to share the poem on social media platforms to increase its reach, though this is not mandatory.
• The editor reserves the right to make necessary changes to ensure publication. However, poets may appeal changes within 30 days of publication.
• If an agreement cannot be reached, the poem may be unpublished to preserve its artistic integrity.

Important Dates

The submission deadline for the India Poetry Magazine Contest 2024 is September 14th, 2024. The winner will be notified by November 15th, 2024. The winning poem will be published on January 15th, 2025.
