About the CAG National Essay Writing Competition 2024
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India invites college students to participate in the third edition of the National Essay Writing Competition 2024. Open to students under the age of 23, this contest provides a platform to express thoughts on crucial issues. The competition will be held on 4th October 2024, and participants can write in either English or Hindi.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to all college students enrolled in any recognized institution in India.
- Participants must be under 23 years old as of 1st August 2024.
- Employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department are ineligible, though their family members can participate.
How to Participate?
- Students must register online through the official portal cagessaycompetition.co.in.
- Participants can select their preferred examination center, subject to availability. The address will be shared via email.
- Onsite registration for walk-ins is available on a first-come, first-serve basis until two hours before the essay starts.
- No registration fees are required, but participants must arrange their own travel.
- The essay will be limited to 1,500 words, with an additional 150-word summary, and must be original.
- The essay topic will be provided at the competition venue.
Required Documents
Participants need to upload the following documents during registration:
- A recent passport-sized photograph in jpg/jpeg format.
- Proof of enrollment from the university or institution in jpg/jpeg format.
- Proof of date of birth, such as a birth certificate or class 10th marksheet, in jpg/jpeg format.
Evaluation Criteria
Essays will be judged on:
- Originality and depth of thought.
- Quality of argument and reasoning.
- Critical analysis and writing style.
The top three essays in Hindi and English will be awarded.
Prizes
Prizes for the competition are as follows:
- First Prize: ₹50,000
- Second Prize: ₹40,000
- Third Prize: ₹30,000
The results will be announced by 5th November 2024, and winners will receive their prizes on 16th November 2024.
