What is the ISLRTC 7th Indian Sign Language Competition 2024?
The 7th Indian Sign Language Competition 2024, organized by ISLRTC, is a prestigious event for deaf and hard of hearing students to demonstrate their proficiency in Indian Sign Language. The competition includes categories such as storytelling, jokes, essays, and more. Winners of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ranks will receive certificates. The last date for submission is 31st August 2024.
Eligibility for the Indian Sign Language Competition
The competition is open to the following categories:
- Deaf children studying in classes 1-12 across India.
- Students of the DTISL program across India.
- Students of the DISLI program across India.
- Students of D.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impairment), B.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impairment), and M.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impairment) across India.
- Winners of previous ISL Competitions from 2018-2023 (1st, 2nd, and 3rd rank winners).
Note: Students who have won in previous ISL Competitions and may have graduated or completed their courses are still eligible to participate in this category.
How to Apply for the Indian Sign Language Competition?
Participants can submit their entries according to the category they fall under:
Group A (Classes I-XII):
- Submission via School: Fill in Form ‘A’ at Annexure II, signed by the teacher/HoD/principal. Attach a photocopy of the student’s ID card issued by the school.
- Individual Submission through Parent: Fill in Form ‘A’ at Annexure III, signed by the parent/guardian. Attach a photocopy of the student’s ID card issued by the school.
Groups B, C, and D (DTISL, DISLI, D.Ed, B.Ed, M.Ed):
Fill in Form ‘C’ at Annexure IV. This form should be forwarded through the training institution, with a photocopy of the ID card issued by the training institution attached.
Group E (Winners of Previous ISL Competitions):
Fill in Form ‘D’ at Annexure V and attach a photocopy of your winner’s certificate.
Submission Guidelines
Entries can be submitted using one of the following methods:
- Email: Attach forms and videos and email to competition.islrtc@gmail.com. Clearly mention the school/institute name, student name, class, and category in the email.
- Online Upload: Upload forms and videos to Dropbox/Drive/YouTube, and email the link to competition.islrtc@gmail.com. Ensure the share setting on Google Drive is “ANYONE WITH THE LINK,” and the privacy setting on YouTube is “UNLISTED.”
- In-Person or Post: Submit forms and videos on a pen drive (standard USB drive) or DVD to the ISLRTC office at the following address: Module no. 403-405, Fourth Floor, NSIC Business Park, Okhla Industrial Estate, New Delhi – 110020.
Judging Criteria
The competition entries will be judged by a panel of external ISL experts based on the following criteria:
- Clarity: The signing should be clear and easily comprehensible.
- ISL Production: Well-formed signs, smooth delivery, and proper use of ISL grammar including facial expressions, role shift, and classifiers.
- Content and Structure: Creativity, originality, and adherence to ISL grammar in storytelling, jokes, essays, and other categories.
Terms & Conditions
- ISLRTC reserves the right to verify the eligibility of contestants by requesting relevant documents or contacting schools/training institutes.
- Incomplete entries will be rejected.
- ISLRTC and the Judges Panel reserve the right to disqualify entries due to poor quality, inappropriateness, or any form of cheating.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring the quality and accessibility of submitted videos.
- Decisions made by the Judges Panel are final and will not be subject to appeal.
- ISLRTC may use the submitted entry videos for publicity, awareness, and developing teaching materials.
